C asean's ASEAN Connectivity Through Stories
Pim Wangtechawat took part in ASEAN Connectivity Through Stories, a special event hosted by C asean in Bangkok celebrating the power of storytelling to connect people, cultures, and communities across Southeast Asia.
Bringing together voices from literature and film, the event explored how stories can foster greater understanding across borders and why narratives from Southeast Asia continue to resonate with audiences around the world.
On 6 August 2026, Pim appeared in conversation with Indonesian bestselling novelist Ratih Kumala, author of Cigarette Girl, to discuss the relationship between culture, identity, and storytelling. Drawing on her own novels, The Moon Represents My Heart and I Dreamed of You, Pim reflected on growing up between cultures, writing across languages and traditions, and the ways in which deeply personal stories can find universal meaning. The conversation also explored the creative process behind their work and the importance of sharing Southeast Asian perspectives on the global stage.
Following the discussion, Pim met readers during a book signing, where she signed copies of her novels and spoke with attendees about her work and writing journey.
Held at C asean in Bangkok, ASEAN Connectivity Through Stories also featured filmmaker Nottapon Boonprakob, whose acclaimed works include Mad Unicorn and The Evil Lawyer, highlighting the diverse ways stories are told across different creative mediums.
