Hong Kong Young Readers Festival 2025

As part of the Hong Kong Young Readers Festival 2025, author Pim Wangtechawat met with young readers and aspiring writers across Hong Kong through a series of school visits, talks, and creative writing workshops designed to encourage a love of storytelling and creative expression.

Wangtechawat visited YMCA Christian College and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Writing Club, where she spoke about her journey from aspiring writer to internationally published author. Drawing on her experiences writing The Moon Represents My Heart and I Dreamed of You, she shared insights into the creative process, the realities of the publishing industry, and the importance of perseverance in developing a writing practice.

At both institutions, Wangtechawat led interactive creative writing workshops, guiding students through practical exercises focused on generating ideas, building memorable characters, and finding confidence in their own voices. Each session concluded with an audience Q&A, giving students the opportunity to ask questions about writing, publishing, and pursuing a creative career.

Wangtechawat also visited the Hong Kong Adventist Academy Creative Writing Club, where she hosted a more intimate workshop with a smaller group of young writers. The session encouraged students to share their own work in a supportive environment, fostering discussion, constructive feedback, and creative experimentation. The visit concluded with an open Q&A, allowing participants to continue conversations about storytelling, craft, and the writing life.

Through her participation in the Hong Kong Young Readers Festival 2025, Wangtechawat reaffirmed her commitment to supporting emerging writers and creating welcoming spaces where young people can explore their creativity, develop confidence in their ideas, and discover the joy of storytelling.
